Pipex Wireless is launching a WiMAX service in Manchester and is changing its name to FREEDOM4.
The company has been testing its WiMAX wireless broadband access in Milton Keynes and Warwick, will roll the technology out to other parts of the UK after the Manchester launch.
A map on FREEDOM4’s website show the locations planned for the next two-phases of the technology roll out.
WiMAX is a wireless broadband technology which is available without the need for a phone line - eliminating the need to pay telephone line rental.
In September, Pipex announced plans to demerge its WiMax joint-venture, as it is no longer a strategic fit following the sell-off of Pipiex’s broadband and voice assets to Tiscali in July.
