According to the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), 88.4 per cent of internet connections in the UK are now via broadband.
The figures, from the September 2007 edition of the ONS Internet Connectivity report, show a slight increase from 86.2 per cent connections via broadband in June.
While broadband’s market share continues to increase, dial-up connections are declining, accounting for just 11.6 per cent of all UK internet connections in September.
According to the ONS statistics, less than half of people using broadband are able to access speeds between 2Mbits/sec and 8Mbits/sec and only one in five are using services faster than 8Mbits/sec.
