Chungwa Telecom (CHT) have indicated that they are in negotiations with Samsung electronics regarding co-operation on video streaming and other marketing projects during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
CHT wants to release the P318+ handset into the Taiwan market - but Samsung designed this handset exclusively for the Olympic games.
CHT also wants to better serve its clients by introducing more of its own brand handsets that support video streaming. The company has been in talks regarding handset production with a number of Taiwan-based suppliers, including BenQ, Asustek Computer, Gigabyte Communications and Inventec Appliances.
CHT has predicted that 2008 sales of its own-brand handsets (including dual-band models) will reach 250,000 units.
