Almost 150 million handset sales in China for 2007

Almost 40 million GSM and CDMA mobile handsets were sold in China during the fourth quarter of 2007. The top three vendors were Nokia, Samsung Electronics and Motorola, whose combined market share totaled 60.2%.

For CDMA handsets the top two vendors were Samsung Electronics and Huawei Technologies, a China-based company. Their market shares were 25.1% and 24.7% respectively for the quarter.

Total sales of handsets in China for 2007 was 149.13 million units, up 64.5% compared to 2006. 139.05 million of these were GSM phones, with CDMA phones accounting for the extra 10.08 million.
