Taiwan-based mobile handset manufacturers High Tech Computer (HTC) is planning to expand its market share in Japan. In April the company will begin to ship its 3.5G S730 to Softbank Mobile, and in April-May they will begin shipping the HT1100 (HTC Touch Dual) to NTT DoCoMo.

The S730, a Windows Mobile smartphone, will be marketed by Softbank under the trade name X03HT. The handset supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA, and features a 2 megapixel camera, a QWERTY keyboard, and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. It will be one of 13 new handset launches for Softbank this spring.

HTC is further attempting to extend its reach in Japan by building up business relations with KDDI. The company is also investigating the possibility of working with telecoms companies in South Korea.
