2008 mobile phone sales in Taiwan to top 7.5 million

Sales of mobile phone handsets in Taiwan hit 7.42 million units in 2007, representing a 7.5% increase on 2006 sales figures.
2008 sales of handsets are predicted to exceed 7.5 million units. Between 6.6 and 6.8 million of these sales will be accounted for by Taiwan’s six major telecom service providers.
Top of the list of purchasers will be Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), with predicted sales of 2.4-2.5 million handsets. CHT are followed by Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) with predicted sales of 1.2-1.3 million handsets, Taiwan Mobile with 1.2 million handsets, Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom (APBT) with 1.0 million handsets, Vibo Telecom with 0.5 million handsets, and First International Telecom with 0.3 million handsets.
