Arcoa, a Taiwan-based retail channel operator for mobile phone handsets and other communication technology, says that it aims to increase its handset sales in Taiwan to 500,000 units. This includes 150,000 - 200,000 of its own brand ‘Utec’ models.
Last year Arcoa launched 13 Utec branded phones, and sold a total of 80,000 units. The company plans to release up to 20 Utec handsets this year to help them achieve their shipment goals.
Utec handsets to be launched in the first quarter include the T750, with mobile TV, the T392, with dual sim card capabilities, the S501, with sliding form factor, and the T598, with touch-screen controls.
The company will also handle the purchase of 800,000-900,000 handsets for Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) this year. This will make up two thirds of the handsets that FET is expected to purchase in 2008.
