On 22nd February Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) signed a memorandum of understanding in which CHT is to establish a computer centre for TSE’s stock handling and transactions.
The computer centre will built in the city of Panchiao, southwest of Taipei, in the CHT planned Green Data Centre, and is expected to open in 2011. It will integrate the electronic transaction platforms that are operated by the TSE, Taiwan’s Future Exchange, GreTai Securities Market (OTC), Taiwan Depository and Clearing Corporation, as well as providers of peripheral services. CHT is to take charge of the building construction, and of providing the relevant equipment, facilities, and technical services.
The Green Data Centre is part of CHT’s drive to promote fibre to the home/building (FTTx), and is an advanced energy saving internet data centre. In addition to housing the TSE computer centre, the building will include a digital content centre for local and international digital content providers.
