Neuf Cegetel, a mobile communications operator based in France, has placed an order with Gigabyte Communications for DVB-T enabled handsets. The handset - which Gigabyte has named the t600 - will be marketed under Neuf’s TWIN TNT trade name.
In addition to working with Gigabyte, Neuf has been setting up business relationships with other Taiwan-based suppliers, including Wistron NeWeb and High Tech Computer (HTC).
Gigabyte’s t600 is not their only mobile TV handset. The MS808, developed by Gigabyte, supports a range of mobile TV standards, including DVB-T, DVB-H, DMB, and ISDB-T. It also has GPS functions and Wi-Fi built in.
In other news, Gigabyte has also been working with Garmin, a PND vendor, developing a smartphone with GPS capabilities and a 5 megapixel camera.
